Padraig Harrington
Padraig Harrington played his amateur golf out of Stackstown Golf Club, on the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. He had an illustrious amateur career, having played in three Walker Cups; he won the Irish Amateur Close Championship at Lahinch in 1995 and the West in 1994. He first came to notice when he won the Leinster Youths at Delgany Golf club in 1991 with a fine score of 266. Padraig has left a formidable legacy behind him at Stackstown, with the likes of Mark Campbell and Michael McDermott following in his footsteps.
Padraig turned professional after the European victory in the Walker Cup at Royal Portcawl in 1995. By this stage, he had qualified as a chartered accountant. His first win on the European Tour was the Peugeot Open de Espana in 1996, on only the tenth start in his professional career.
The Club
In addition to the usual locker room facilities, the clubhouse has a snooker room and a well-equipped gym. However, the most impressive room in the clubhouse is the Padraig Harrington Trophy Room, where you can see memorabilia from his illustrious career, including his Major trophies.
We also provide a fully equipped Pro-Shop and a plentiful supply of buggies provide the novice and experienced golfer with all that is needed. The recently installed state of the art Swing Room is a great addition to the amenities of the golf club. Featuring Trackman and other technology innovations, the Swing Room is the ideal place to hone your swing and get fitted for new golf clubs. You can also experience playing some of the world’s most famous golf courses using this technology.
